Paul and Lorraine King, Directors of CSM, had the pleasure of meeting the Work & Pension Secretary Mr Ian Duncan Smith MP and being special guest at the hand over of the New Science & Engineering Innovation Centre (SEIC) from Balfour Beatty to Runshaw Collage.
This new £10M extension to the current Euxton Lane campus building, designed to BREEAM Excellent standard, is due to open in September 2016. The SEIC will accommodate up to 400 new students across a wide range of engineering and science courses to complement its current provisions, including apprenticeships at all levels, to career degrees.
This exciting new building has been fitted out with cutting edge industry standard engineering and science laboratories and workshops, following feedback from local employers and future industry needs.
Paul discussed the benefits the new facility would offer his Engineering apprentices training with CSM and other business in the area. Ian commented that the government was committed to create 3 Million more high quality Apprenticeships by 2020 giving young people the best opportunity to get on in life.
