Surface preparation
Explore our Shot Blasting, Dressing and Polishing Options
Shot Blasting
At CSM, we have an automated industrial-sized shot blaster that uses G17 grit, a recycled product, applied at 100psi. This is ideal for preparing steel with a clean surface ready for pre-galvanising or paintwork. We also offer a more gentle means of shot blasting by way of ‘glass grit’ for the more delicate and intricate components. Shotblasting is available as part of our fabrication portfolio but also as a standalone service.

Dressing
We use a combination of manual and automated dressing, be this to deburr cut items or dress the welds on a more detailed fabrication. For our deburring we use a Grindmaster. Sheet metals can require Deburring of Flat Surfaces on the edges. Various requirements of Deburring such as “Radiusing” or “Burr Removal” require in-depth process know how and experience. Grind Master offers this in the form of total solutions.
We also have a team of experienced dressers that complete grinding of the weld and adjacent surfaces, and are well versed in blending the weld into the parent metal on either side of the joint. We offer different levels of dressing be this just to tidy up and remove spatter or to blend the weld for a seamless finish on a customer-facing unit.
Polishing
Also at CSM we have the capability to polish stainless steel to your required finish. Highly polished metalwork can show off an item to its best, but also helps protect the metal itself.
